Terms of use.

These terms govern Anvil for iPhone. The agreement is between you and the developer named under Developer contact below (we), not Apple. We are responsible for Anvil and its content. By using the app you agree to these terms.

The app

Anvil is licensed to you, not sold. Your licence is non-transferable and covers Apple-branded devices you own or control, subject to the Apple Media Services Usage Rules. Access through Family Sharing and volume purchasing is permitted where those rules allow it. These terms do not override those rules. You may not rent, lease, lend, sell, redistribute or sublicense it, nor copy, decompile, reverse engineer or disassemble it except where the law expressly allows that despite this restriction.

Anvil is provided as is. To the maximum extent the law permits, it comes with no warranty of any kind, and we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of it. Nothing here limits any right you have as a consumer that cannot lawfully be limited.

Anvil Pro

Anvil Pro is sold through the App Store as a monthly auto-renewing subscription or as a one-time Lifetime purchase. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation. Lifetime does not renew. The monthly subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; manage or cancel it in your Apple Account settings. Prices and included features are shown in the app before purchase. We may change what Pro includes, and if a change materially reduces it you may cancel. Existing annual purchases continue to be honoured according to their App Store entitlement.

Models, and what you make with them

Anvil runs machine-learning models on your iPhone. Some are offered in the app's model list and some you may import yourself. Anvil renames the models it packages rather than retraining them; each one is listed with what it is based on and the licence it carries, and those licences travel with the model.

What a model produces follows from its weights and from what you ask for. We do not review, approve or store what you generate. On-device generation stays on your device unless you choose to share or back it up. Optional Web Search sends requests to an external service, as described in the privacy policy and the app's consent screen. You are responsible for what you create with Anvil and for complying with the law where you are and with the licence of the model you are using.

Anvil includes on-device controls intended to block image requests involving sexual or undressed depictions of children. These controls apply regardless of subscription or selected model, but automated filters can make mistakes. Attempting to circumvent them is a breach of these terms. Use restrictions carried by the image models

Anvil Dream and Dream Lite are derivatives of Stable Diffusion XL, licensed under the CreativeML Open RAIL++-M licence. Other packaged models carry their own licences, identified in the model list and at anvilai.com/licenses. The RAIL++-M licence requires its use restrictions to be passed on to you as an enforceable term, so they are reproduced here in full and form part of this agreement. You agree not to use the models, or derivatives of them:

In any way that violates any applicable national, federal, state, local or international law or regulation.
For the purpose of exploiting, harming or attempting to exploit or harm minors in any way.
To generate or disseminate verifiably false information and/or content with the purpose of harming others.
To generate or disseminate personal identifiable information that can be used to harm an individual.
To defame, disparage or otherwise harass others.
For fully automated decision making that adversely impacts an individual's legal rights or otherwise creates or modifies a binding, enforceable obligation.
For any use intended to or which has the effect of discriminating against or harming individuals or groups based on online or offline social behavior or known or predicted personal or personality characteristics.
To exploit any of the vulnerabilities of a specific group of persons based on their age, social, physical or mental characteristics, in order to materially distort the behavior of a person pertaining to that group in a manner that causes or is likely to cause that person or another person physical or psychological harm.
For any use intended to or which has the effect of discriminating against individuals or groups based on legally protected characteristics or categories.
To provide medical advice and medical results interpretation.
To generate or disseminate information for the purpose to be used for administration of justice, law enforcement, immigration or asylum processes, such as predicting an individual will commit fraud/crime commitment (e.g. by text profiling, drawing causal relationships between assertions made in documents, indiscriminate and arbitrarily-targeted use).

If you import a model of your own, its licence is between you and whoever published it, and you are responsible for honouring it.

Apple platform terms

We, not Apple, provide any maintenance and support for Anvil; Apple has no obligation to furnish either. We are responsible for any product warranties that cannot lawfully be excluded. If Anvil fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the app to you. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to Anvil, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses attributable to a failure to conform to a warranty are our responsibility.

We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to Anvil or your possession or use of it, including product liability claims, any claim that Anvil fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer protection, privacy or similar legislation. We, not Apple, are responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of any claim that Anvil or your use of it infringes a third party's intellectual property rights. Nothing here limits liability beyond what applicable law permits.

You represent and warrant that you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. You must comply with applicable third-party terms of agreement when using Anvil.

Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this agreement. Upon your acceptance of these terms, Apple will have the right, and will be deemed to have accepted the right, to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.
